In some cities the thermal sensation exceeded 50 degrees and for this reason the National Meteorological Service issued an orange and red alert for various parts of the country where, after its confirmation, there are certain recommendations to take into account.
From the beginning, the need to wear light and thin clothing was urged, not to be exposed to the sun between 10:00 and 16:00 and not to exercise. But in addition to these tips, food and hydration are also important.
Daniela Natale , nutritionist MN 7424, who gave some recommendations on how to cope with the heat wave with delicious and fresh meals.
“With these temperatures we recommend eating much more fruit and vegetables, although also during the year. The heat makes us look for cooler alternatives and that is why it is good to eat salads, fruits after meals, smoothies”, explained Natale.
The interesting thing that stood out in the interview is that at this time there is a greater variety of fruits at an affordable price and that allows you to take advantage of their consumption. Given this, Daniela highlighted: "The interesting thing is that each one of them provides vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are very important for the body."
Added to what they provide, the body, by asking for its consumption due to the heat, makes us more motivated, for which the nutritionist remarked that it is necessary to start now with a healthy diet to maintain it throughout the year.
“There are many colors and each one of them represents something positive for the body, so it is good that they mix and be able to enjoy all of them,” explained Daniela, who also gave recommendations: “If there is something that we do not like, we have to try to mix it in some cake or food that allows us to acquire its benefits. The heat allowed for a more abundant consumption of yogurt and that is good because they can be mixed with fruits, dried fruits, granola or cereals”.
When asked about how much it is recommended to buy these foods per day, Natale replied: "With the high temperatures, between three and four fruits and at least two servings of vegetables are recommended . "
Since the early arrival of the heat, many people began to eat cold things so as not to turn on the oven and that is why the nutritionist explained that hot foods do not generate anything negative, they only increase body temperature , and that is why fresh food is more demanded.
“We recommend that meals be organized. There are some that can be eaten straight from the fridge and that is good because it speeds up the diet that is suitable for this moment, ”he pointed out.
Finally, and in relation to hydration, Daniela stated that its consumption during the summer season is more than important: "Now during the heat wave it is even more substantial, especially if we are in places outdoors or without air conditioned".
“I maintain that it is essential to have at least a half-liter bottle in your wallet or backpack to constantly hydrate and fill it up from time to time. Let's think that now we perspire more, we lose liquid and the body needs to recover it ".
Although there is no exact amount for how much to take, Natale recommended that it be between a liter, a liter and a half per day, at least to hydrate the body: "It is not just water, now the times allow there to be fruits or vegetables that have that hydration potential and it's good to incorporate it into the habit. I do not recommend sodas or packaged juices. ”
